Recent Articles from BRMC NewslettersTrail Talkby John WardenAnother year has come to an end at the mountain house. The mild days of Fall have given way to the chill of winter. Another year of camps, mountain breakfasts, trail maintenance, and yet another three nights of Halloween Safari is officially finished. This year's Halloween Safari was well staffed by an enthusiastic crew of volunteers. We did experience stormy weather the later half of the first night, which forced us to shutdown early, but were fortunate to be given very favorable weather the remaining two nights. We had another fine cast of native creatures this year; a green frog, a great horned owl, a spotted salamander, and a flying squirrel. Although the animals are an important aspect of this event, it takes more than a few animals to make the Halloween Safari a successful event. The face painters, pumpkin seed roaster, trail leaders, musicians, and the dozens of other volunteers make this event what it is every year. Our volunteers are the best and we love all of them. Outside of life at the mountain house, my job search still continues. I was hoping to make an announcement in this newsletter and announce the opening for a resource manager at BRMC, but it appears that I will continue to interview for new jobs and I will continue to be your resource manager. Once again, I'd like to thank our new visitors who have made the committment to support by becoming members. We appreciate your support and enjoy seeing you on the trails. As a caretaker, nothing is more rewarding than to see people hiking the trails and enjoying nature, on this minioasis we know as Bull Run Mountains Conservancy. I'll see you on the trails.

A special thank you to Tyler and Rachel. It is no easy task to be an animal for the animal or their family. Tyler broke Rachel’s record as the youngest to take on the challenge.
