Recent Articles from BRMC NewslettersTrail Talkby John WardenAs I sit in the mountain house, contemplating throwing another log in the wood burning stove, I'm trying to put a positive spin on the cold weather that is making my stone floors radiate a chill up through the bottom of my insulated slippers and wool socks. All I can think of is those pesky ticks being eliminated by the thousands by the constant freeze. The big trail news for the spring is working with Mark Nelson of REI to construct a trail that will run parallel to the Mountain Road trail on the eastern side. As you may have noticed, a stream has worked its way into Mountain Road, making the hike up the first few hundred meters a sloppy and muddy mess. If you would like to assist us in blazing a new trail, please contact our office at (703) 753-2631. Outside of life at the mountain house, I've just completed my last full-time semester at George Mason University. I'm in my final class this spring, a one-credit computer science ethics course. I'll be graduating in May with a degree in Geography and a minor in Geographic Information Systems. I started working at SAIC earlier this year. I'm fortunate to have found a position that is in my field, mapping and geospatial analysis, and to have a great group of co-workers. Unfortunately, my new job has forced me to break out of my college lifestyle mode and I no longer have the luxury of waking up at the crack of noon. Once again, I'd like to thank all of those who responded generously to our Christmas wish list. I'd like to thank our new visitors who have made the commitment to support the conservancy by becoming members and everyone who continues to support our work here at BRMC, your support is vital to our continued success. I'll see you on the trails.
