Recent Articles from FoBR NewslettersIt's All in the Nameby FoBR Board and StaffDear FoBR Members, As an organization, we have grown in scope and responsibility since our beginnings eight years ago. Our mission to ensure the integrity of the Bull Run Mountain Natural Area by managing public access and educating children and adults on the cultural, ecological, and historical heritage of this preserve and other open space communities has become more important than ever. During the past year the Bull Run Mountains were formally dedicated as a State Natural Area Preserve. In the near future, the Division of Natural Heritage, with assistance from the Virginia Outdoor Foundation and FoBR, will begin the process of drafting a management plan for the natural area. At that time the working relationships between our organizations will be formally established. In light of the progress made over the past eight years, we feel that our organization's current name, Friends of Bull Run, does not adequately reflect the current breadth and depth of our responsibility to the Bull Run Mountains and the community. Our name has also caused some confusion in that it refers only to Bull Run rather than to Bull Run Mountain. The board of directors and staff are currently considering several possible names, but we would also like to give our valued members an opportunity to submit suggestions. Please feel free to call, write, or email us with your comments. We look back with satisfaction and look forward with great anticipation.
Sincerely,
|
